WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on Janesville Police participating in ethics training
Janesville police officers and staff, from the chief on down, recently attended Ethical Character Driven Leadership Training.
Sergeant Brian Donohoue says the training illustrated the impact officers can have on residents through everyday contact. Donohoue says the training helped highlight the importance of proper behavior choices.
The eight hour training session was geared toward building public trust.

I commend them for taking that class; however, unless they also plan on having the public take a class on how to properly behave, I don't see their efforts going very far. This town is full of characters that seem to believe they are above the law, no matter what the circumstances, and depending on where you live, there isn't a class that can cure that amount of ignorance. On both parts. For those believing that is how it's done and those letting them get away with it on a routine basis.

helge1939, that is not always the case. Definitely don't get on the bad side of one of their fellow officers, and you will do okay.

Leadership is an essential quality for the police. I believe we are called to take moral leadership in our communities, which is a call to higher standards of character.
One of my favorite quotes on leadership comes from GEN Norman Schwarzkopf. He said, "Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character. But if you must be without one, be without the strategy." Well said, General!
And kudos to the Janesville Police Department for taking the lead...!

dalegribble--from experience I can say that usually they don't start that way (bigots) but they end up that way after repeated exposure to people who treat them like trash.
I will not say that there aren't those officers who aren't perfect, but by and large law enforcement and public safety is an honarable occupation, employing honorable people.

Still won't stop them from racial profiling, and being biggots.
